I’m not sure why, but I feel compelled to share a story with you all—a Valentine’s story…
Many years ago, when I was single—very single!—and working in a large organisation, I received the most unexpected Valentine’s gift. Let me set the scene. It was about six months after my awakening; the world felt new and exciting but was also still pretty painful and messy. I was recovering from two big heartbreaks—the end of my marriage and the end of a beautiful but very painful romance. Like many people trying to move on, there had been some dating, but at the time, I was very much on my own.
I worked in a small team, delivering new business opportunities within a large organisation. Our little team sat within a larger department, and we all shared an open-plan office. In fact, the entire company was open-plan, overlooking a vast atrium and reception area. I had worked in this building for a few years, and every Valentine’s Day, reception was always busy—flowers and gifts arriving, people comparing who got the biggest bouquet. That kind of thing was outside my normal experience, and honestly, there was always an air of “who got the most impressive delivery?” which didn’t really feel like something I wanted to be part of.
So, when I received a call to say I had a delivery waiting at reception, I was completely taken aback! I let my team know I was popping downstairs, and immediately, there was a buzz of excitement. We were a close-knit group, and they all knew I was very single.
I walked down three flights of stairs, crossed the vast atrium, and made my way to reception. My mind was racing. Who could possibly be sending me a Valentine’s gift? As I arrived, the receptionist handed me the most enormous, breathtakingly beautiful bouquet of red roses I had ever seen. It was huge—really, really huge!
Trying to act cool, I thanked them, then turned to walk back across the atrium and up three flights of stairs. My heart was pounding. I knew who I hoped they were from, but that didn’t seem possible. Any other option felt far-fetched too! As I reached my desk, I was met with an ecstatic team, all eagerly asking, “Who are they from?!”
I had no idea. I asked for a moment to put the flowers down and read the card.

They were from… Interflora—one of the UK’s largest flower delivery companies! They wished me a happy Valentine’s Day and wanted to arrange a meeting to discuss a business proposition.
All the excitement, the hope, the wonder… and there it was—a beautiful gift, but from a supplier. I felt a mix of emotions. A little disappointment, of course, but also a sense of clarity. It made sense.
Then, as I settled back into myself, I felt a surge of joy. I had received the most stunning Valentine’s gift, and in that moment, it felt like a message from beyond—a reminder that I was loved, cherished, and deserving of something special.
That moment really helped me at the start of my self-love journey, and it was the perfect message from the divine. Self-love isn’t about flowers, chocolates, or grand gestures; it’s about rewiring the parts of ourselves that feel unworthy, the parts that block love. Love isn’t just a feeling between two people—it’s a state of being. When we are love, there is no separation; love simply is. And having someone special to share that love with—whether a partner, family, or friends—is just the icing on the cake.
But no matter what, we all are loved.
This is my message to you on Saint Valentine’s Day:
Remember, you are love.
You are beautiful, worthy, and special.
From my heart to yours,
VasuDevi
