Introduction
As the year ends, I find myself reflecting on my life and the events that have brought me to this palace. Born in 1977 in Watford General Hospital, just 15 months after my sister Aimee, I am the middle child in a family that would lay the foundation for a journey marked by resilience, self-discovery, and an unwavering commitment to personal growth.
Early Years in the Chalfonts and North Crawley
My childhood years were spent in the picturesque surroundings of the Chalfonts before a move to North Crawley at the age of two. The arrival of my baby brother just before my third birthday felt like a special gift, I believed he was my birthday present and can recall telling strangers that he was my baby. My siblings are and always will be very special to me, we have always been close, and we share an ability to understand each other, to laugh, really laugh, and have always been there for each other.
I started school in North Crawley, a tiny village school, where I loved “Fletcher books” (Maths books – maybe the kids equivalent of the puzzler) However, at seven, my parents’ separation marked the beginning of a new chapter. The transition to Olney brought with it a new school, remedial lessons, and a growing sense of disconnection from the world.
Navigating Change and Discovering Horses

Life took another turn when my dad re-partnered, introducing Kate and Adam into our lives. Growing up as one of 5, was certainly interesting, we had a lot of fun and a lot of freedom. We were so close in age that for 3 days a year, we would be 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, etc, I imagine we were a real handful and I have a lot of compassion for anyone who was left in charge of us! Navigating challenging relationships with my father and his wife became a defining aspect of my journey. Amidst the turbulence, a love for horses emerged, providing respite and a sense of belonging during turbulent times, a passion shared with my step-sister.
Educational Odyssey and the Pursuit of Social Justice
Despite the challenges, an academic opportunity arose when I sat an exam and earned a free place at a girls’ school in Bedford. Though initially felt like I didn’t belong, this gift gave me a great education and enduring friendships that have spanned 35 years and counting. After passing all my GCSE’s I was diagnosed as a compensated dyslexic aged 17 and a lot of my challenges with school started to make a little more sense.
Leeds University beckoned, becoming a crucible for my passion for social justice, lefty liberal tendencies, and the formation of lifelong friendships and a time of self-discovery. It was during this time that I met Jenny, who played and still plays a significant part in my spiritual journey.
Professional and Personal Evolution in London
Post-university, I ventured to London and embarked on a career at Habitat homewares store. From faxing agents worldwide to evolving into a product developer, the shift to buying opened doors to global travel, collaboration with renowned designers, and unforgettable friendships.
Amidst the hustle of city life, I met Rick in 2001, and our union resulted in marriage in 2005, welcoming our son Rufus in 2007 (born by cicarian at +17 days on our wedding anniversary). The relationship faced challenges in 2009. In 2010, a decision to move to Northampton was a fresh start, but by 2012 the marriage ended and I started understanding more of who I am and what I wanted in this life.
A Journey Within: Spiritual Awakening and Healing

The turning point arrived in 2014 during a soul-searching trip to India. Prompting a reevaluation of life’s trajectory. By 2015, I bid farewell to Argos, embarking on a three-month journey with my son, spanning America, Australia, and India.
Returning in 2016, I delved into spiritual studies, part-time freelancing, and volunteering at the Hope Centre. Qualifying as a Crystal Dreaming Practitioner in 2017 and an Ignite Your Spirit Therapist in 2019 marked significant milestones in my healing journey.
A Glimpse into Today and Tomorrow

Fast forward to 2021, and I find myself immersed in full-time healing, with clients spanning the globe. I offer daily mantra sessions, weekly meditations, and monthly in-person events. These events all help me and the communities I support to foster spiritual growth and connection.
As 2024 approaches, I have aspirations of business expansion, being able to support more souls to wake up to inner joy, travel the globe to sacred places, and a deeper awakening of the divine feminine within. My journey while not always easy has been one of evolution, transformation, and the unwavering belief that every individual is divine, with a unique offering to the world. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the amazing friends, family, spiritual community, and teachers I have.
Conclusion: Embracing the Journey
I am reminded that our stories, while not defining us, provide a roadmap to understanding why we behave in the ways we do, understanding our reactions and triggers, and also our hopes and fears. And when we understand we can meet ourselves with compassion which is the key to healing. If you seek support on your journey—whether through inclusive meditation communities, one-on-one healings, or simply a conversation—consider booking a free consultation.
This Christmas, and always, I send you love and pray for peace on earth.
With love,
VasuDevi (Laura) xx
