The Power To Negotiate – Meditation

We are all unique, with varying agendas and points of view. The power to negotiate enables us to speak clearly and behave fairly to those who want different things from us, so as to achieve a mutually satisfactory outcome. Instead of having the same disagreements, conflicts and stalemates, we make progress. We care about the process as well as the outcome. We are trustworthy in thought, speech and action, and we achieve together. Shakti Durga Strength of the Soul Cards (purple pack)

This week I’ve been reminded of the quiet power of oracle cards. With the right intention and presence, they so often deliver exactly the message we need.

Recently, during a small in-person meditation, I felt guided to pull a card for each participant — one for the specific, individual situation they were healing. From a richly varied deck, every single person received a card calling them back to meditation, the divine, and inner stillness. Each card was different, yet the messages were strikingly similar.

What made this even more intriguing was that a couple of regulars weren’t able to attend. When I later picked up the remaining cards, the next two were also very similar in theme — and only after that did the rest of the deck show its full diversity. A gentle reminder of just how precise the guidance can be.

So today, when I pulled a card for us that didn’t quite align with where I thought we might explore, I was reminded once again to trust the cards.

The theme that’s come through is The Power to Negotiate.

It invites us to reflect on where we may be slipping into:

  • selfishness
  • stubbornness
  • dogmatism
  • negative manipulation
  • taking unfair advantage
  • controlling or domineering behaviour

In this meditation, we’ll gently heal the underlying wounds that give rise to these patterns — the ones that limit meaningful collaboration and connection.

The gifts of collaboration are profound. They help us become more creative, widen our perspective, truly listen (and feel heard), and build trust in our relationships — personal and professional alike. They can even help resolve long-standing conflicts, creating the conditions for lasting success.

If you’re navigating a tricky situation, or you’d like to become a more conscious and effective negotiator, this meditation is for you.
